IMPORTANT: Software updates to new major versions such as 'DPS 2006' are NOT available to you unless you have a current support package, either paid for monthly, or paid for at the time of purchase. Its not expensive (it could cost from as little as 10 GBP per month), and enables us to continue to provide excellent support , product enhancements and enables us to research future development in the audio playout arena. If you do not have support, you should NOT update the software even as a demo; doing so may 'break' your existing registration, and, without support, you will have to pay to get a new one!

Website updated!

Our main DPS website, www.audioenhancedps.co.uk has had a facelift and we hope the site is now easier to use. You can easily navigate to your user area for the latest downloads from the support item in the new menu at the top of any page on the new website.

First things to do after installing the latest DPS:

Check your settings! Especially if you have more than one DPS on a network, or you update the DPS library from Evolution Scheduler!

In some circumstances, an important setting that allows DPS to "see" library changes from Evolution, or another DPS pointing to the same library, will be disabled. You can check it from the main DPS 'Library' menu. Please make sure "Library Auto Refreshes (if updated on network)" is TICKED (our American cousins say "checked"). If you dont do this, you may get some unexpected results!

Many of the changes in DPS are in preparation for the next major version of DPS, due to be released in Spring 2007. You will find some of them documented in the Changelog (which you will see shortly after running the latest DPS for the first time). Many are experimental, but if you wish to try them, and offer feedback before they become new features in DPS 2007, then feel free to do so!

First things to do after installing the latest Evolution:

Some important changes have been made to the "previous days", "previous weeks", etc separation rules

Check your category rules! The changes in the latest Evolution affect all the category settings on the right-hand side of the category rules box, both for individual category rules and global category rules. To make the rules work more effectively, some changes were made that mean that you must HALVE the previous days/weeks separations to acheive the same separations with this version of Evolution as the previous one. Failure to do this will results in *lots* of unscheduled positions! (If you have plenty of songs in each category, you may find you do not need to do this!)

Kill dates in the new Evolution have received special attention - items can now be set *not* to play after a certain date and time, whereas before only the date could be set. This was in response to many requests relating to playing promos up to perhaps the hour before the event is aired.

Sadly, the old kill dates are NOT compatible with the new scheme, meaning any old kill dates you had set in the previous Evolution will now be lost. Fortunately, a right click option in the Evolution Library (mass change for kill dates) means that this should only take a short time to remedy.

We have worked hard on Evolution to make it faster and to produce more well-rounded playlists. We recommend you open and close Evolution a couple of times with DPS running (and the update library if changed on network option ticked (see above)) to 'sync' the libraries in Evo and DPS, after which you should be able to resume your normal scheduling, as before.

Another new feature in Evolution is that you will be prompted occasionally to delete any playlists that are found to be more than 30 days old. Again, this is in response to user requests. If you do ask EVO to delete them, they are sent to the recycle bin for permanent deletion once you have reviewed them and feel certain you do not need them any more.
