Radio Automation software, sometimes called just "radio automation", or even "dj software" is software that enables radio stations to broadcast 24 hours a day, seven days a week with very little human intervention (if desired). A well-designed radio automation software, such as the AudioEnhance Digital Playout System 2012, is equally capable of providing an entirely digital, modern-day record library, based on mp3, wav or wma files. What's more, AudioEnhance DPS is the centrepiece of many radio studios, even when DJs and presenters are broadcasting live, because as well as seamless radio automation when no-one is present, the playout system is able to work under the direction of the on-air personality, thus providing a computerised equivalent of vinyl turntables, CDs and mini-discs. ALL the on-air material is playable by the automation software, including sponsor tags, jingles, Ids and commercials. Thus AudioEnhance's Digital Playout System is capable of storing, ordering and indexing all the material to be played out on the radio station. For example the audio library in DPS is searchable by artist, title, category, duration, hard drive location and so on.
